September 9, 2017 - Aero Carnival

The slide show above displays some photos from the Sept. 9 event.

The National Park Service's AERO CARNIVAL was held on September 9, 2017 from 10:30 AM to approximately 2:00 PM*. It took place on Huffman Prairie Flying Field, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The event was free to all (access through Gate 16A off of State Route 444). 2017 marks the 100th anniversary of Wilbur Wright field and McCook Field and this event was one of the celebrations of that anniversary. *(Originally scheduled to go until 5:00, the event was closed a bit early due to the appearance of some dangerously gusty winds in the afternoon).

Visitors enjoyed the many displays and activities at the Great Wright Brothers Aero Carnival on the field where Wilbur and Orville Wright developed the world’s first practical airplane. Through activities and displays the Aero Carnival provided a glimpse back into the time of the Wrights. It also provided a look at the history of aviation. Participants experienced the past, present and the future of aviation and aeronautical research. For more information on the park see the Dayton Aviation Heritage National Park website at this link: https://www.nps.gov/daav/learn/news/the-2017-great-wright-brothers-aero-carnival.htm
