Memorial Day weekend tradition celebrating America’s 250th anniversary features the Heritage Day debut of DPO Music and Artistic Director Keitaro Harada:

Heritage Day with the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra returns to Carillon Historical Park on Sunday, May 24, 2026 — Memorial Day weekend — from noon to 9 p.m. Featuring costumed interpreters, hands-on historical activities, a performance by the Carillon Park Concert Band and concluding with a patriotic concert by the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, the event offers a festive way to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States.
This year marks the Heritage Day debut of Keitaro Harada, the DPO’s new music and artistic director. Harada, who also serves as permanent conductor of the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra and music and artistic director of the Savannah Philharmonic, is known for his dynamic and expressive performances.
All proceeds benefit Dayton History, a privately funded nonprofit, in its mission to inspire generations by connecting them with the unique people, places, and events that changed the Dayton region and the world. Dayton History owns and operates Carillon Historical Park, Hawthorn Hill, and Patterson Homestead.

Tickets: Regular admission fees apply. FREE to Dayton History members. Veterans receive discounted admission.
