December 20, 1–3 p.m, Joe Clark Innovation Lab:
ree

In December, the Innovation Lab will be bustling with holiday cheer and STEM-based aviation fun! From making reindeer-themed paper copters and festive origami ornaments to building circuits that light up Rudolph’s nose or engineering a snowball-launching catapult, our hands-on activities spark curiosity and creativity. Open Kids Labs: December 9, 11, 16, 18, 23, & 30, 10 a.m.–2 p.m.

On Science Saturday, we will be creating a blizzard in the Lab with paper snowflakes. This simple, hands-on activity helps young scientists explore symmetry, patterns, and geometry while creating their own wintry designs. As students fold and cut, they uncover the science behind how real snowflakes form in nature—no two exactly alike. It’s a perfect mix of creativity and STEM learning to kick off the season!

If you can’t join us in the Lab, your family can still get in on the festive fun. Did you know that December is a great month for stargazing? The nights are longer, the skies are clearer, and the air is colder—all of which make stars appear brighter. Your family can explore the winter sky together (while looking for flying reindeer)! Check out this at-home activity to expand on your star gazing experience!

Check out these other STEM-based activities, too: Aviation Adventure.
