Passing of Friend & Supporter of Aviation Trail:

James Richard "Jim" Hartzell (1934 - 2026)

James Hartzell (1934–2026), who died June 19, 2026 in Piqua, Ohio, was born in Troy to the late Robert N. and

Miriam (née Herrman) Hartzell. Jim's father Robert (1896 - 1968) who founded the Hartzell Walnut Propeller Company in 1917 was inducted into the National Aviation Hall of Fame's Class of 2015. At his father's NAHF induction ceremony, Jim presented the award for his father. Jim, as a boy, inherited his father's love of airplanes and aviation and they could often be found flying together, and Jim spent time working at Hartzell Propeller, where he developed a synchrophaser for twin engine aircraft and was named as inventor on two patents. from jamiesonandyannucci.com

Jim Hartzell and Hartzell Propeller have been friends and supporters of Aviation Trail for many years. Aviation Trail mourns his loss and offers sincere condolences to the family.
